The top 240 players born in 1999 hit the ice this past weekend at Braemar Ice Arena in Edina. Representing their MN Hockey District, teams played 3 games against pre-seeded teams. The top seeded teams were District 8 (South Suburbs), District 6 (Soutwest Suburbs), District 11 (NE Minnesota), and District 10 (North and Northwest Suburbs). Teams were broken into three pools for equitable balance in games.

The Red Pool (mentioned above) had some tremendous games this weekend. District 6 knocked off District 10 Friday night 3-2. District 8 scored in the last second to tie District 10 6-6 on Saturday night. And possibly the most entertainng game of the weekend came Sunday afternoon when District 8 beat District 6, 5-3.

So many great players were on display. Some with Division I commitments Ryan Poehling (Lakeville - St. Cloud State) and Mikey Anderson (Roseville - UMD) and several from National Champion Shattuck St. Mary's (Scott Reedy, Grant Mismash, Austin Pratt, Erik Dahl, and Andrew Lane).

YHH took in all 18 games, broadcasting 9 of them (see video link in homepage navigation to see all 9 games). Having followed many of these players back to their Squirt days, it was fun to watch them grow up in front of your eyes.

Also on hand were volunteer evaluators to help MN Hockey select 102 players (54 Forwards, 36 Defensemen, and 12 Goalies) for the next phase of the Reebok High Performance process. It is a very difficult process to watch over 200 players play only three games in a very condensed three day period.  Some players are easy to spot Mikey Anderson is listed as 5 foot 10 inches and 185 pounds, Colin Baird (Mounds View, 6' 3" and 170 pounds). Some were noticable for their command of the game, Ryan Poehling was a man amongst boys showing bursts of greatness all weekend long.

Goaltenders Jaxon Stauber and Jack Robbel were also show stoppers this weekend, making highlight reel saves and showing great confidence with the puck.

YHH Subscribers can see a full list of who YHH thinks are the top 102 by clicking here. These 102 are simply our opinion based on what we saw. It is in no way a better list than what the the Evaluators will choose in the next couple of days. Choosing 102 from this pool is a very difficult task.
