Xtreme's John Lambos takes charge
American Stars: with Nik Norman out of the lineup, Judd Caufield had a chance to shine. The Grand Forks, ND native was joined by Kaleb Johnson also from Grand Forks...was likely the second best Goalie in the event behind Maier from SSS. Christian Miller from Coleraine (son of former MN Mr. Hockey Kris Miller) plays the game with a lot of skill and grit...big body who wasn't afraid to use it.
Blades: with Jake Hale missing, this weekend was all about Kaden Bohlsen. Bohlsen showed great individual skill, but what stood out most is his ability to move the puck quickly both passing and shooting. Rhett Pitlick continues to show great knack around the net and skills in parts of the game that doesn't show up on the score sheet. Jackson Jutting is a great all around player for the Blades. The Prior Lake forward will be a great first year Bantam next year for the Lakers.
Machine: Both Goalies Will Johnson and Robbie Wolfe had great performances for the Orange this weekend. Clay Hanus is a player that has shown amazing progress the last two years....he plays with amazing tenacity every time he hits the ice. Bobby Brink had a great weekend. Despite being undersized, Brink makes amazing plays in the offensive zone. I'd classify him as "fun to watch."
Selects: Harrison Blaisdell...son of former NHL'er Mike Blaisdell, probably the flashiest and noticeable player I've seen since seeing Brannon McManus from Shattuck this year. He did things with the puck that were mind boggling. Nolan Maier was the best goalie in the tournament (Kaleb Johnson was a close second)...made so many tough saves look easy. Was the reason the Selects went undefeated. PJ Fletcher, a Dallas native, joined the Selects this weekend and was off the charts fast and crafty with the puck. YHH learned that he may be headed north to Toronto for finish his Minor Hockey career.
Xtreme: At first sight, the Xtreme looked more like a '99 team than a '01, they were that big. Three that stood out were Andrew Hopko, Ryden Fedyck, and John Lambos. Hopko for his size and ability, Fedyck for his shot, and Lambos for his all around skill. Keep an eye on Tristen Robins and Nakaden Greyeyes...these two stood out too.
