On Saturday, the Blaine Bengals earned their way into the Pumpkin semifinals by beating district rival Andover in a shootout. The stock of St. Cloud and Elk River is at a new high with nice wins Saturday over the likes of Eden Prairie, Chaska Chan, Prior Lake, and Hermantown.

PWAA Black Bracket

OMG > White Bear Lake (3-2)...Brandon Reller scored with six minutes to go to lift the Crimson to  the win. Ethan Elias and Spencer Dahlquist each tallied goals for OMG. Billy Rose was a force for the Bears knocking in both goals in impressive fashion for WBL.

Rosemount > Wayzata (7-4)...The Irish had three unanswered goals in the second period lead by 1G/1A by Mitchell Kohner who had a Shorty early in Period. Kohner would lead the Irish with 2G/2A.

Blaine > Andover (6-5, OT/SO)...Luke Kron scored with 1:42 left for Andover to send it to OT. At the end of regulation while shorthanded Chaz Lucius drew two penalties on one puck possession garnering the Bengals a two man advantage to start the extra session. The Bengals could not convert on that opportunity. After the extra session, both teams sent their best 5 shooters out both goalies came up big. On the sixth shooter, Cole Hansen made a fantastic move to beat Alex Fuerst top shelf. Brandon Benson made the clinching save for the Bengals to send them to the semis.

OMG > Blaine (3-1, ENG)...Brandon Reller lead the Crimson with 2 Goals including a pretty double toe drag mover around a Blaine defender and then beat Blaine superstar Brandon Benson on the five hole to tie the score at 1. Brock Faber got the GWG when he got loose and fired a shot bar in on a fire side shot. Reller added an important ENG to end a late charge by the Bengals.

Edina > Rosemount (4-1)...Cole Cavanagh had 2G to lead the Hornets into the Finals against OMG. The Hornets defense did a nice job keeping the Irish attach on the edges. A constant demonstration of offensive zone pressure also helped the Hornets walk away with a somewhat easy victory.

Notes: Two best Black Bracket games were play simultaneously on Saturday afternoon. Edina got by Minneapolis in a six person shootout and so did Blaine. Goalies Morioka (MPLS), Webert (Edina), Fuerst (Andover), and Benson (Blaine) were all outstanding Saturday in these nail biter games.
