Hornets roll to five straight wins in Moorhead

Lily Delianedis scores Sunday for the Hornets

Outscoring their opponents 30-10 in three pool play games, Edina showcased an impressive set of three forward lines and sharp shooting defensemen. Heading into the final four they faced Osseo Maple Grove in the Semifinals. Marc Lund got his second Hatty of the Pumpkin, this time a natural one (three in a row) to get the Hornets out to a 3-0 lead. OMG fought back to tie it early in the third when Chris Kernan tied it for the Crimson. Lily Delianedis scored with five minutes left to lift the Hornets to the title game.

The Hornets would take on White Bear who won a nail biter over Chaska Chan 3-2 in the semifinals. The Bears would come into the Final looking to avenge a 7-3 loss to they suffered to Edina in Pool Play.

The Hornets got off to a fast start scoring three goals in a five minutes span, 2 by Jack Fuss and one by Marc Lund to take a 3-0 lead at the intermission. Lily Delianedis got a fourth goal for the Hornets in the second to put any hope of a White Bear comeback out of reach.

In the third Tanner Domschot scored on a pretty rebound goal for the Bears to cut the lead to 4-1, but the Hornets answered thirty seconds later when Brett Witzke scored bar down to make it 5-1. The Hornets would score two more goals to win the title game going away 7-1.

The Bears didn't have an answer for Edina's speed and quickness the entire game.  Edina outshot 38-19 for the game.
