Edina Green beats District 6 rival Chaska Chan Sunday 6-3 to win Super Rink Spectacular.

Osseo Maple Grove took home the prize in the highly competitive Squirt A tourney in Burnsville this weekend beating Edina White, Prior Lake, and Mahtomedi. The Crimson got balanced scoring all weekend from all three lines and some timely saves from both goalies. Tyler Frederichs had a pair of goals in their win and another waived off in the same shift as his first goal. Landen Gunderson scored the GWG late in the third on a pretty double move that beat lava hot goalie Ben Dardis. Dardis was a star all weekend for the Zephyrs.

Edina Green won the Super Rink Spectacular with a pair of 6-3 wins over Mounds View Irondale and Chaska Chan on consecutive days.

Some were surprised by Lakeville South's performance this weekend, but not YHH. The Cougars beat the NSP Revolution in OT Friday, then beat two District opponents to win the Hopkins Squirt Tourney. On Saturday they beat Woodbury 6-2 who knocked off tourney favorite Eden Prairie and then on Sunday they nudged out Park Cottage Grove on Sunday for the title.

PeeWees

Rosemount wins Eden Prairie First Test on Sunday with a 4-3 win over CC.

As one PeeWee fan exclaimed Sunday, "the PeeWees are a mess." This mess is trying to figure out who the top teams are. Chaska Chanhassen, a team that really struggled early, had a nice weekend winning their pool in the Eden Prairie First Test on a tiebreaker over Andover and then beat Wayzata 9-0 to gain the finals against Rosemount. The Irish also got into the Bracket play by winning a tiebreaker over Stillwater and then beat tourney favorite Edina on Sunday. In an exciting Championship game, the Irish got a pretty goal from Kyle Heffron who floated in a shot from the point that beat CC Goalie Patrick Fontaine top shelf for the 4-3 win.

Because of inter district games these top teams will continue to face each other the rest of the year. On Thursday, Rosemount and Stillwater will meet five days after their epic game Saturday which ended in a 5-5 tie. Many of the First Test teams will also travel to Duluth this weekend for the Spirit of Duluth Tournament. Likely even a bigger mess to figure out next Monday!

Burnsville won their home tournament Sunday beating Mahtomedi 4-3 in Overtime. The Blaze have shown some solid signs so far this year.

Woodbury won the Super Rink Spectacular by defeating Rogers 7-1 on Sunday in Blaine.

Edina "A" stayed undefeated by sweeping the Hopkins tournament with four wins, including wins over T10 Orono, Johnson Como NSP, and AA Buffalo.

Roseau wins George Pelawa Championship Sunday in Bemidji

Centennial was our favorite to win the Battle for the Blue Ox a couple of weeks ago and has impressed all YHH all year. Edina was our favorite this weekend but they were hampered by injury and did not make it out of Pool Play. The surprise of the first part of the season has been Prior Lake. Strong defense and great goaltending has been the signature of the Lakers so far. On Sunday, the Lakers got exactly what they were looking for, a tight checking, low scoring game. Late in the second with the score tied, a Laker forward fired a shot that beat Centennial Goalie Travis Allen high, but it did not beat the goal post. The puck bounced out quickly and no goal was the call by the ref. After a few nice exchanges and goal scoring opportunities, the game remained a stalemate. With 1:24 left in the game Centennial Defenseman Rollie Carlson fired a shot from the point that was tipped by Carter Wagner past PL Goalie Cade Kujawski for the Centennial win.

Lakeville North continued to impress the pollsters with a tournament win in the Burnsville Scott Benedict last weekend. The Panthers beat Minneapolis in pool play and then knocked off Mahtomedi and Sartell on Sunday to win some hardware.

Roseau swept the George Pelawa title in Bemidi beating Fort Frances on Sunday for the Championship.

St. Louis Park had a great weekend in Blaine winning the Super Rink Spectacular with an exciting 6-5 Overtime win over Eagan in the Finals.
