On Saturday January 3, the Sartell Squirt A Winter Classic welcomed the Moorhead Spuds. Sartell’s Mayor Sara Jane Nicoll dropped the puck and the two teams set out to battle the elements. Sartell struck 1st with a goal from Hayden Walters; who scored twice in the first frame as did Moorhead’s Justin Stalboerger. Franke (Sartell) and Martinson (Moorhead) each tallied a goal in the first. The final goal of the game came at 1:57 of the second; Walter’s third. The final period was quiet on the scoreboard as Sartell’s goalie, Quentin "Q" Sigurdson was able to stand firm against a furious rally by the Spuds. Sartell wins a classic 4-3.
