Grant Boldt with a big save for the Cougars Sunday
In the Bantam AA version of the Moose Goheen Invitational, Centennial showed why they will be the top-ranked BAA squad in the state when the Staff Rankings come out Monday. In the morning they beat the #1 rated Edina Hornets and in the afternoon, the Cougars cruised past Elk River 5-2, scoring the last four goals of the game after falling behind 2-1.
Four different players scoring for Centennial, and Luke Arends played distributor, handing out three assists. Lucas McGregor scored midway through the first period to stake the Cougars a 1-0 lead, but the Elks answered quickly with goals from Jack Perbix and Tommy Laabs.
From the drop of the puck in the second period, the game was all Cougars. Carter Wagner and Rollie Carlson scored in the second, followed by Hayden Brickner A.J. Wettstein marking the scoresheet in the third period to put the No. 3-rated Elks away.
Players to Watch: Centennial's Hayden Brickner and Lucas McGregor both had a great weekend in White Bear Lake. Brickner brings skill and poise almost in a professional manner. McGregor is a heads up player with a remarkable shot. Jack Perbix from Elk River was also a standout for the Elks. "Who is number 12, was a frequently asked question." Demetrious Koumontzis had a great weekend for Edina. The second year forward has a game that continues to get better and better.
