Top Teams Converge on White Bear for the quest for the THE White Bear

One of the best Squirt Tournaments every year is the Moose Goheen tournament, featuring the famous white bear trophy given to the winner. This year's A field is really strong, the people from White Bear were able secure top ten teams like Andover, OMG, and Edina Green. On top of those teams, they attracted other teams who have had a taste of the T10 like Rosemount, Prior Lake and Moorhead. The smart money is OMG, this team comes in riding a 24 game unbeaten streak with only two ties on the season, one to Minneapolis and another to Rochester (which they won in a shootout).

There are a lot of really good teams this year at Squirt A, but only one (OMG) has held it together through 3 and half months as truly great. Can their three balanced lines, strong defense and great goaltending be the formula to win yet another set of games, another big Squirt Tourney (defending champs) and keep the state's longest unbeaten streak for one team alive? Prior Lake will have all oars in the water and be ready for a good fight on Friday afternoon.

Stay tuned to YHH both here on the web and on Twitter (@YouthHockeyHub) for updates on the Moose all weekend.

Edina's Wyatt Wurst is a proven goal scorer for Edina

Squirt A

Andover's Gavyn Thoreson will be tough to stop this weekend at the Moose.

Pool A: Edina (Green), White Bear Lake, Blaine, and Hastings...should be a fun pool to watch. Edina is tough, but White Bear (tied Mahtomedi) and Hastings (wins over Tonka and NSP) have been getting stronger the last few weeks, they will give the Hornets a run.

Pool B: Rosemount, Hudson, Andover, and Centennial...this is the most even pool of the three. Rosemount and Andover are top rated teams, and on the nights Hudson puts it all together, they are as good as anyone in Minnesota. Centennial has two second place finishes so far in tournaments and just beat Andover two weeks ago.

Pool C: Osseo Maple Grove, Prior Lake, Moorhead, and Champlin...OMG is the class of this pool, but Prior Lake is not far behind. The Lakers just beat #2 Chaska Chan on Sunday and have a lot to prove after the YHH Squirtacular. Moorhead spent some time in the YHH T10, the Spuds are one of the Wild Card teams we plan to keep a close eye on in Pool Play.

The Call

Final Four: OMG > Andover, Prior Lake > Edina (Green)
Final: OMG > Prior Lake

Hudson's Isaac Howard is a player that always needs to be accounted for...

Squirt B

The NOW Rankings data is a little fuzzy and we aren't 100% sure on all of the teams (e.g. Stillwater Red or Black)...but we do know once Sunday rolls around the Moose Goheen B Squirt Championship will be exciting.

Pool A: WBL Orange, Woodbury White, St. Cloud Black, and Andover Black...Andover leads District 10 and should have no trouble in Pool Play, White Bear and Woodbury could give them a test.

Pool B: WBL Black, Andover Gold, Owatonna Blue, and Centennial...See above. Andover leads their Division in District 10 and might challenged by WBL who has already beaten Owatonna once this year. Centennial could surprise.

Pool C: Sibley, WBL Grey, Moorhead, and Stillwater...Stillwater Red is the highest ranked team in the field at #11 NOW Rankings. If it is Stillwater Black who is still not shabby (8-2-2 in league play), we will lean toward Moorhead in this pool. The Spuds have always done well every year in the Moose. This year's SQB Black team has great talent.

The Call

Final Four: Andover Gold > Moorhead, Andover Black > Stillwater Black
Final: Andover Black > Andover Gold
