Spuds overcome 2 goal deficit and beat Andover Black 3-2 in OT

Moorhead overcame a two goal deficit in the third, and clinched an over time win against Andover Black 3-2 for the Moose Goheen Squirt B Championship. Keondric Allbritton had two back-to-back goals to tie the game and Aaron Reierson had the overtime game winner for Moorhead ranked number 10 in the YHH Staff Rankings.

Andover Black ranked number 11 in the NOW Rankings opened up with Trevor Nelson scoring on a power play goal with Brandon Bennett and Thomas Fitzgerald notching the assist. Moorhead with a listed recored of 8-1 coming into the tourney had a power play opportunity after Andover received a hooking and tripping call, but the team couldn’t convert a goal and the period ended 1-0 Huskies.

The second period remained a tight close battle with Andover (8-3-1) putting up more shots on goal than Moorhead. With 3:28 remaining in the second period Robert Hendricks slid one in giving Andover a two-goal cushion. Trevor Nelson had the assist.

It was all Andover’s game heading into the third period.  Until at seven minutes in, Allbritton made his way to the net on a breakaway for a short-handed goal. Eight seconds later, the forward scored again tying the game up 2-2 completely changing the momentum of the game.

Both teams would battle the final minutes. The Huskies would get a late puck to the net that crossed the goal line as the buzzer rang. The refs ruled no goal.

The game progressed into a sudden death five minute over time. A minute and a half into over time, Aaron Reierson fired a shot off the post after winning the face off and his linemate Jack Teiken cleaned up the rebound to  win it for the Spuds.

Huskies win the Moose with 5-2 win over Edina


Andover jumps to a 4-0 lead over Edina

Andover jumped on Edina with four unanswered goals in the first to give the Huskies a solid lead for 5-2 win over Edina Green for the Moose Goheen Squirt A Championship. Cooper Conway led the Huskies ranked number two in the YHH NOW Rankings, with two goals and two assists...capping off a great weekend for the first year star. Andover (25-2-1) wasted no time getting a lead on Edina Green (20-4-3). Conway opened up the scoring at 2:40 into the first period with Weston Knox receiving the assist. Four minutes later Logan Seward notched a second goal assisted by Jacob Pierson. Before the end of the first, Davis Gohman and Joshua Lachner netted a goal apiece with Conway credited an assist on both goals.  Gohman had second assist on Lachner’s goal and the Huskies finished the first period up 4-0.


Andover crashes the net on Sunday

Andover went scoreless in the second period. Halfway into the second Edina scored with Christian Codding wristing one in. Nick Mikan and Jimmy Clark received an assist on the Hornets first goal as they trailed 4-1. A minute later Jimmy Clark put Edina Green, NOW Ranked 6, within two with his goal assisted again by Mikan and Bill Martin. After a slashing call on Andover, Edina ended the second period with 1:30 remaining on a power play to begin the third period...setting the stage for an exciting finish. The Hornets weren’t able to convert a goal on the power play and Andover continued to put pressure on the Hornets goal. With 1:50 left in the game Conway sealed the game with his goal assisted by Noah Martin and Joshua Lachner for a 5-2 win.
