Hunter Sandnes with a save for Rosemount
This should be a fun tourney to attend with all 8 teams with a chance to catch fire and win it. Unlike the last two years where the only drama was who was going to take second. We are taking Rosemount. The Irish are physically strong, well coached and will have enough fire power to win three straight. Minneapolis is the real deal. If you study the Storm closely, they have yet to clean win/sweep any weekend tournament this year (tied Edina in Moorhead, lost to Forest Lake in Stillwater, tied Blaine in WBL, and lost to St. Cloud in Regions).
Best 1st Round Match-up: Prior Lake vs. Rosemount
Favorite: Minneapolis
YHH Pick: Rosemount
Sleeper: Bloomington Jefferson
Key Players: Sam Emmerich, Prior Lake - Mackie Zabinski, Minneapolis - Nate Warner, St. Cloud, Bobby Brink, Chaska Chan and Mitchell Kohner, Rosemount
Alexandria's Caleb Strong scores against Park Cottage Grove earlier in the year.
One of the best fields of the six we will be covering this weekend. Some bonafide superstars and a bunch more with a lot to prove in Lakeville. Edina is the most complete team top to bottom despite losing to Orono in the Regionals. We favor St. Paul because they have the X factor of the event, Matthew Gleason. The Capitals could not have drawn a tougher road to take as a result of losing to Champlin in the East Regional. In order to defend they will have to beat Orono (they are loaded), Alex/SSP winner (no, thanks), and then likely Edina or even worse a team that has just beat Edina!!!! Hasse will be rocking this weekend.
Best 1st Round Match-up: Orono vs. St. Paul
Favorite: Edina
YHH Pick: St. Paul
Sleeper: Tartan
Key Players: Grant Slukynsky, Warroad - Caleb Strong, Alexandria - Matthew Gleason, St. Paul - Lucas Jorgenson, Orono and Cam Kluender, South St. Paul
Orono White earlier this year beating MVI in the OMG tourney.
McFadden and Whitehead coined a hit song "Ain't No Stopping us Now" in the late seventies. That is what the #1 rated Edina Hornets will be singing Sunday in Rochester. The Hornets stumbled in the Regions, but showed great resolve in the Loser's Bracket. Great reports keep coming back on Park Cottage Grove and Ely the past few weeks, don't be surprised if they get hot and run the table.
Best 1st Round Match-up: Eagan (Green) vs. Ely
Favorite: Edina (White)
YHH Pick: Edina (White)
Sleeper: Ely
Key Players: Cole Nasby, Edina - George James, Orono - Joey Pierce, Ely - Emily Chronkite, Eagan (Green)

Edina's Lewis Crosby scores for the Hornets earlier in the year.
Should be some of the best hockey the state has seen in a long time at the Bantam level. Six Super teams, two upstarts...and several future Division I players to be seen at their best on the biggest stage. Centennial beat Edina at Heritage at the Spirit of Duluth in December and in the Moose Goheen. If the two were able to get to the finals, we lean slightly in Edina's favor. Edina will need to remain calm and stay out of the box in all three games. Jefferson took advantage of the Hornets lack of discipline in the Edina Invitational and could do it again. Watch out for Moorhead, the one loss Spuds have a lot to prove. Finally, it seems the Wayzata/Minnetonka game has been forgotten in all of the BAA talk. The winner of this border battle is as good as any of the teams in the field.
Best 1st Round Match-up: Centennial vs. Grand Rapids
Favorite: Centennial
YHH Pick: Edina
Sleeper: None
Key Players: Lewis Crosby, Edina - Zach Stejskal, Grand Rapids - Lucas McGregor, Centennial - Ryan Elder, Minnetonka - Andrew Urban, Wayzata...if one of these players has a breakout weekend, all bets are on their team to win it.
This weekend we will present Sammy's Player of the Game gift cards to each player in the Bantam A and AA Friday and Saturday games. Visit their website for dine in, take out or delivery.
This could be a familiar scene for Orono this weekend in Duluth.
Should be a great tournament in Duluth. A lot of great teams with a lot to prove. St. Paul is the defending champ and have been playing really well the last six weeks. Orono is number 1, but enters the tourney a number 2 seed. Many strong suitors like Edina, JCNSP, and Spring Lake Park. We think that when push comes to shove Edina and Orono will be there on Sunday afternoon. We choose Orono by a nose.
Best 1st Round Match-up: St. Paul vs. Orono

Key Players: Nico Vega, Edina - Ben Doherty, Alexandria - Davey Burns, Orono - Robert Christy, St. Paul

Wayzata's Tommy Bergsland nets the GWG for the Trojans to win D3 Title
Bantam B hockey some major ebbs and flows between the top 5 teams and the next 15 all year. Elk River, Wayzata, and Prior Lake all sat at number 1 this year. While both Brainerd and Moorhead both saw the top 5 as well. There are three teams on paper that seem stronger than the rest (Elk River, Prior Lake, and Wayzata). But this is the same level that saw Elk River and Prior Lake face elimination in District Playoffs. In the state tourney, one bad bounce, one hot goalie and you are done. This tourney is wide open.
Best 1st Round Match-up: Elk River (Black) vs. Prior Lake
Favorite: Wayzata (Blue)
YHH Pick: Elk River (Black)
Sleeper: Brainerd
Key Players: Jack Ostapeic, Wayzata - Zac Cellete, Elk River, Max Valek, Prior Lake - Jake Rutzick, Eagan
