Colin Schmidt scores for Wayzata Friday, bar-in.
In the second game of the day, Minnetonka used two goals by team leader Ryan Elder to propel the Skippers to to a 3-0 first period lead. Luke Loheit scored the third goal for Tonka on a pretty goal. Minnetonka used their size and speed to overwhelm the Trojans.
In the second period, Wayzata's Colin Schmidt scored a pretty goal off of a pass from Andrew Urban to cut the big Tonka lead to 3-1. Urban weaved between two Tonka defenders to behind the net and quickly sauced it to Shcmidt who banged it home past Charlie Glockner bar-in. The Schmidt goal propelled the Trojans midway thru the game until the Skippers answered with a Mitchell McGannon goal to knock the life out of Wayzata. After 2, Tonka had the 4-1 lead and all of the momentum.
In the third, Tommy Leisen scored for Wayzata to make it interesting - but the top ranked team from the West Region hung on to win 4-2.
