It is hard to argue that the best uncommitted high school player in Minnesota until yesterday was Edina native Grant Mismash. As a Sophomore at Shattuck St. Mary's this past season he had 31 Goals and 31 Assists in 52 games for the Sabres Prep team.

On Tuesday, he gave a verbal commitment to play college hockey to Dave Hakstol and the University of North Dakota. After narrowing his choice of schools down to North Dakota and Minnesota, YHH caught up with Grant Tuesday and he had this to say about his decision. "For me, being from Shattuck, I'm in a small town with no distractions, I felt like North Dakota has the same characteristics and just the style that North Dakota plays fits mine and their facility at the Ralph is something else."

The '99 birth year Mismash has had a great hockey career to date, winning just about everywhere he has played. Prior to enrolling at Shattuck, Grant and his star studded Minnesota Machine team terrorized opponents throughout North America, as a Bantam in 2013, he skated with the Edina Bantam AA team that won the State Championship (cough, cough over Duluth East) and last year he helped lead SSM to a Bantam National Championship in Green Bay.

This red letter day for Grant came with great gratitude, he was very thankful to his family and the coaches that helped him. "My brother Parker, especially, I wouldn't be who am without him and how he has helped me through my life." He went on to say great things about two coaches, first Shattuck Coach, Tom Ward "Coach Ward was a great coach and huge help in the college selection process." And no surprise he was very appreciative of his youth coach Bernie McBain. "Bernie was an incredible influence in my hockey career. The effort he put into not only me but everyone who plays for him is amazing and the things that he does goes unrecognized. He is truly the best coach that has ever coached me."
