It's a Great Day For Hockey

Luke Buss drives home a goal for the Kodiaks Saturday

Another great day of hockey was played in Minnesota (and Wisconsin) on Saturday. Several teams made their mark including the visitors from Colorado, the Colorado Kodiaks in the Warrior Cup. Here is a look at what we saw at action at 6 rinks all over the area.

01 Invite: The Kodiaks came town and look to be having their way with this level...going 3-0 and outscoring their opponents 19-3 so far. They play Tommy Chicago's on Sunday in Pool Play and could face them again in the Championship.

02 Invite: The Kodiaks went 3-0 and head into the final four outscoring opponents 17-4 so far. They will face Miracle Gold - who they beat 6-2 Saturday - and the winner of Velocity and LSS in the Championship, assuming they beat MG for the second time.

03 Invite: Miracle Gold is the best team we've seen at this level..they will face a very talented Kodiaks team in the semis. In the other semi, Total Hockey Fusion will face the Ice Clams.

04 Invite: Miracle Gold and Breakaway clinched a spot in the finals Sunday. Both went undefeated going 3-0. Both have won close games this weekend, their game should be closed.

05 Invite: Northern Wings will take on Tommy Chicago's Sunday in one semifinal, the wings won all three by a total of 19-1. The Wings beat TC 6-0 in Pool Play. In the other semi, the Magicians will face the Kodiaks for a chance at some hardware.

06 Invite: Several scenarios are still in place for Sunday. The top two teams face off, the Kodiaks and Breakaway. If the Kodiaks win, they will face Breakaway again in the Championship. If they lose, they will be praying to the Bracket Gods.

Matthew Knies is a "nice" player for the Kodiaks

Predicted Winners

Joe Greniuk is a complete player for Miracle Gold.

There are a lot of wildcards in AAA hockey, especially when you consider the Warrior Cup had so many teams that weren't on the metro based YHH radar. Throw in the fact that we have the Kodiaks in town and making a logical choice is mostly luck.
