The Show: Meet Ontario Red

This Ontario Team will likely make the US team see Red

This week we sink our teeth into our second Canadian team participating in The Show this Summer. Team Ontario Red will come to Minneapolis with a great line up of mostly Toronto players. Well known Toronto Coach, Richard Power sat down with YHH and had this to say about his team.

Players mainly coming from Toronto with a few from Ottawa, London, and Niagara Falls. Eight players on the team played in the Brick Tournament last year coming from the Toronto Bulldogs and Toronto Pro Hockey teams. 5 players lead their teams to the Provincial All Ontario Championships where the top 5 teams in the province played for gold.

Coach:

Richard Power- Owner/Director of Power Hockey Academy based out of Toronto, Canada, Blaine and Eagan, Minnesota. A former 3rd overall pick to the OHL, Richard is currently the Head Coach for the 2002 Toronto Marlies AAA Club who have been ranked number 1 in Canada for the past two years with a record of 141 wins, 12 losses, 12 ties, 792 goals for, and 154 goals against. 

Forwards

Dylan Rooberouk (04 London Junior Knights): Dylan could be the X factor for Team Ontario Red. With size, vision, and speed Dylan can single handedly take over a game in an instant.  An exceptional talent that likes to set his teammates up just as much as putting his own goals in the net.  

Jordan Karafile (03 Mississauga Senators): Jordan is a crafty forward who plays a year up in the AAA Greater Toronto Hockey League. He excels at the East/West portion of the game with his quick agility and light feet. Defencemen often struggle to contain Jordan because of his great agility side to side. 

Andrew Leblanc (04 Southern Tier Admirals): Andrew is a talented forward who possess a great vision of the game. Andrew sees plays in the game unfold 2 seconds before they happen resulting in him usually being in the right place at the right time. A great student of the game. 

Luke Devlin (04 Toronto Marlies): Luke is a big power winger who loves to come down the wing with the puck and use his size to block the D out and drive the puck to the net. A dynamic two way forward who is often the first player back on the back check and takes pride in his defensive play. 

Pano Fimis (04 Toronto Jr Canadians): Pano is a high energy player with the ability to fuel his teammates up with his hard work and pay a price attitude. A great leader on and off the ice and a future captain in the making. 

Aidan Castle (04 Don Mills Flyers): Speed, speed, and more speed. Aidan is considered the fastest player in the Greater Toronto Hockey League. He is a player who knows what his best assets are and uses them to his benefit every night. A game changer who often stands out. 
 
Will Wright (04 Mississauga Reps): Will is a two way forward who does a great job contributing at both ends of the ice. A great teammate  who is willing to pay a price along the walls and in the corners. He is the type of player that will get his team a goal and block 5 shots every night. 

Lleyton Mclean (04 Ottawa): Vision sums up Lleyton. A dynamic play maker who loves to set his teammates up. Lleyton has the ability to make a play out of nothing and consistently finds his teammates tape with his accurate passing.

Defence

Ethan Best (04 Central Ontario Wolves): Coming into the tournament at 5 foot 7 inches and 143 pounds, Ethan will be hard for anyone to miss. A big presence on the ice as well as a specialty team expert. Ethan excels at clearing the front of the net and rebound control for his goalies as well as a cannon of a shot from the point on the power play. 

Jacob Leblanc (04 Southern Tier Admirals): Jacob is a coaches dream. He possesses great patience with the puck and has the ability to bring the pace of the game to what ever speed he wants to play at. A tape to tape passer who takes pride in his abilities to control the breakout out his own zone. A mistake free defencemen who is a student of the game just like his twin brother Andrew. 

Marco Stojkov (04 Toronto Junior Canadians): What Marco gives up in size he makes up for it with heart, determination, and unbelievable skating ability.A picture perfect skater who loves to play the game of hockey. Marco is the type of player who can play in all situations and will be counted on heavily throughout the tournament. 

Bensen Moore (04 Toronto Junior Canadians): Benson or "Benny" is the heart and soul of Team Ontario Red. A player who will be the hardest worker on the ice and loves to play in the corners and in front of his net. A tough stay at home defencemen who holds his teammates accountable and gains the respect of both his teammates and opposing players.   

Matthew Jovanovic (04 Toronto Marlies): Matthew has the ability to play both forward and defence. Possesses a great mind for the game, has tremendous vision, and an exceptional passer. Matthew will be looked upon to contribute at both ends of the ice by his coaching staff and teammates. Matthew scored the game winning goal in overtime this past week for the Toronto Marlies to win the All Ontario Championships. 

Goalies

Rowan Kimens (03 Mississauga Senators): Rowan is considered one of the best goalies playing in the 03 age group in Toronto as an 04 DOB. A dynamic goalie that can change the out come of a game on a regular basis. A great student of his position along with a ton of heart and fight. Rowan led the Toronto Bulldogs to the finals of the Brick Tournament last year. 

Kynan Loftus (04 Mississauga Reps): Kynan is a good sized goalie who loves to challenge the shooter. Great with his rebound control and quick on his feet Kynan makes every opposing player earn every goal they get.
