Two teams from The Show lined up against one another Saturday night in Madison at the Madison Ice Arena on the west side of the Capital city of Wisconsin. The Great Plains team made up of players from Minnesota and Northern Wisconsin took on the Midwest team made up of players from Southern Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Missouri.

After each team practiced in the afternoon, they lined up and for an exhibition game in the evening. A game played as a tune up for The Show that starts in mid-June in Minnesota.

The Great Plains team came out flying in the first period getting a pretty goal from Jack Sweeney. Sweeney got a pretty stretch pass from Andrew Cumming and Sweeney was able to bury it on the breakaway. Midwest would answer right back...Jaxon Wilson scored on a pretty rebound goal to knot the game at 1-1. Edina's Jimmy Clark hammered home a rebound goal of his own right after for Great Plains to make it 2-1 in their favor. After one, Great Plains was in control. Passing the puck, winning races and creating chances.

Ben Dardis with a Penalty Shot Save in the Third Period.

In the second period, the Midwest began to counter punch the aggressive Great Plains pinching Defense. The results were goals and also momentum. Verona's Troy Tollefson scored two goals back to back to give Midwest the lead and Wilson beat Great Plains Goalie Ben Dardis to make it 4-2 in favor of the Midwest. After two and into the third, the Midwest took over. They were the team now moving the puck, winning the races and owning the momentum.

Up by two and on the power play, Midwest had a great chance in front of Dardis - a Great Plains player covered the puck in the crease and was called for a penalty shot. Jonah Aegeter charged in on Dardis to give Midwest a three goal lead with under seven minutes to go. Dardis was resolute to attack Aegeter with a poke check and was successful and kept the game within reach.

Jack Sweeney ties the game late

A few minutes later, JJ Wiebusch made the game interesting for the Great Plains as he snuck the puck past Behrens to make it 4-3 with under four minutes to go. Great Plains would then proceed to take two penalties to go shorthanded for most of the rest of the game. Down two skaters, Jack Sweeney would get loose beyond the Midwest defense and get a breakaway - just like he had done to start the game, he was able to beat Behrens to tie it.

The two teams agreed to play Overtime sessions that replicated the Overtime in The Show. Note: Teams will play 3 on 3 for four minutes running time - if no team has won after the first session, they will play a 2 on 2. In the first session of 3 on 3, Isaac Howard scored for the Great Plains. In the second session of 2 on 2, Midwest scored.
