Red and Black League Playoffs Kick Off

First Round Playoff Updates

Top seeded Grey beat White 5-3. Grey was led by Zach Buesgens (Chanhassen HS) and Gabe Wrenholt (Chanhassen HS) who each chipped in a goal and an assist. Other Grey Goal Scorers were Erik Engdahl (Jefferson HS), David Burns (Orono HS) and Will Larson (Orono HS).  White was led by Jake Thomas (Burnsville HS) with 2 goals.

Second seeded Teal overcame a half time 2-1 deficit to defeat Blue 4-2. Jared Moe (Holy Family HS) was simply spectacular in the nets for Blue in the first half he played. Drew Scites (Prior Lake HS) came in at halftime and pitched a second half shutout allowing the Teal comeback to be completed. Teal was paced by two goals from Riley Martin (Hopkins HS) and Curtis Hansen (Prior Lake) HS who chipped in 1 goal and 2 assists. Parker Larson (Mound HS) also lit the lamp. Jarod Blackowiak (Eden Prairie HS) and Mason Emerson (Eden Prairie HS) each had a goal and assist for Blue.

Yellow pulled an upset of Black 6-2. Danny Long (Prior Lake HS) and Josh Kenney (Burnsville HS) were outstanding between the pipes in the halves each played for Yellow. For Yellow, Jack Qualen (Benilde St. Margaret's HS) had the Hat Trick! Nick Michel (Holy Family HS) also had a goal and an assist. For Black, Dalton Weigel (Breck HS) had two goals in the loss.

In the night cap Green upended Orange 10-9 in a wild game. Green was led by Joe Hankinson (Edina HS) with 5 points, Kyle Kester (Waconia HS) 5 points, Shane Reuben (Waconia HS) 4 points, and the Wayzata line of Ike Taraszewki (4 Points), Mathias Branton (4 points), and Alex Bach (3 points).  Orange was led by Nathan Nelsen (Hopkins HS) four goals and an assist, Curt Murphy (Prior Lake HS) goal and two assists and two points each for Michael King (Cretin HS), Jack Jaunich (Cretin HS) and Tanner Burggrraff (Prior Lake HS).

Semi Final Round Updates

Top seeded Grey defeated Yellow 5-1. Grey was led by great goaltending from Trevor Rowe (Waconia HS) and Matt Foss (Northfield HS). Grey also was led by Jory McWilliams (Kennedy HS) goal and two assists, Nick Benson (Waconia HS) goal and an assist, Zac Rodeheffer (Chaska HS) goal and an assist, Zach Buesgen (Chanhassen HS) two assists and goals from David Burns (Orono HS) and Erik Engdahl (Jefferson HS). Yellow's goal was a highlight reel effort by Sky Brown (Benilde St. Margaret's HS).

Second seeded Teal defeated Green 7-4. Drew Scites (Prior Lake HS) continued his great playoff performance in net yielding the only goal he has given up all playoffs. Riley Martin (Hopkins HS) and Curtis Hansen (Prior Lake HS) each chipped in two goals. Ryan Murray (Prior Lake HS), Max Vathing (Prior Lake HS) and Carter Johnson (Hopkins HS) were the other goal scorers for Teal. Green was led by Shane Reuben's (Waconia HS) electric, toe drag, highlight goal of the tournament. Nash Walker (Wayzata HS) chipped in two assists. Other green goal scorers were Joe Hankinson (Edina HS), Mathias Branton (Wayzata HS) and Blake Hermann (Eden Prairie HS).

Sunday the Consolation Championship will see Orange take on White at 315p @ EPCC rink 1. The Championship will see top seeded Grey take on second seeded Teal at 515 @ EPCC.
