The Grind Begins

Caden Triggs scores for Team Gold Thursday

Just two days into the NOW Prospects Combine, and chemistry is already starting to form on all four teams.

Players are communicating specific plays to each other on the bench, defensemen are becoming more protective of their goaltenders, and there’s a sizable amount of good-natured ribbing on the ice between players.

On Day Two, all players were treated to a seminar on mental strength and psychologic health by Hans Skulstad of the Center for Sports and the Mind.

Skulstad shared with the players his advanced knowledge of how to strengthen an individual’s athletic mental health, and offered methods on how to deal with the stresses and need for balance during the season.

Team Gold heard Skulstad’s seminar after its game, but must have known about the balance ideal beforehand, as eight different players recorded goals in a decisive 10-5 win over Team Maroon. For a more in-depth look, check out the recap below. Spoiler alert, it has a lot of names in it.

Team Grey had another round of heartbreak, scoring twice late in the second half of the game but falling painfully short to Team White by a 6-5 score. Continuing with the balance theme, Team White saw five players score six goals.

Team Gold and Team White now sit undefeated at 2-0, while Team Grey and Team Maroon fell to 0-2 after our second day.
