This guy shows off his Nordiques jersey before he hits the ice Friday
Hometown Hockey is a north suburban Summer AAA program that was established in 2011. Its founders had a very simple concept, teach the game and make it fun. This Summer they are hosting their fourth Summer Classic...a small jamboree for its members and non-members with a unique theme each Summer. In year's past they had themes like "Re-living the Miracle", "Best MN HS Teams", and "NHL Classic". Each year outfitting the players in custom jerseys and a full-on professional in-game experience. Besides the great jerseys, they have a built in video screen, light shows and a final day spectacle for the kids and fans to enjoy.
This year, the theme is "Hockey Night in Canada." Each of the 8 teams is outfitted in custom Canadian NHL uniforms like the Quebec Nordiques, Ottawa Senators and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Prior to each game, the organizers play a pre-game video on the big screen in the rink with announcers playing the part of HNC celebs Don Cherry and Ron MacLean breaking down each game.
Each team plays 4 pool play games (2 Friday and 2 Saturday) and a trophy game on Sunday.
