Nate Warner scores for the Flyers Saturday morning
Despite only having ten players suited up the Flyers have played great hockey so far this weekend. Falling late to the Stars Friday, they came out swinging Saturday morning. Declan Beers showed why he was voted a top PeeWee in 2014 by YHH writer Frederick61...he created scoring chances for himself and line mates all morning.
Beers finished and '15 Wiz Wyatt finalist Nate Warner both finished with 2 Goals and an Assist for the Flyers as they upended the Bruins 8-5. Aaron Frenkel had 2 Goals and Jack Jensen had a goal and an assist for the Bruins. Bruins winger Josh Luedtke added 2 assists to regain his lead as the BEL scoring leader with 10 points.
The Flyers and Bruins are both 2-3 on the young Bantam Elite season. Both teams will face the Kings and Pens to finish off the weekend in Moorhead.

The Stars advanced to 2-0 Saturday morning with a 6-2 win over the Wild. Ben Helgeson lead the Stars with 2 goals and Ethan Frisch added three dimes for the squad from the Northwest.
After a scoreless first half, the Stars scored three quick goals including a pretty tic tac toe passing play finished off by a streaking Tanner Mack. Helgeson who has all the tools to play at the next level impressed with his skating and his shooting. His second goal was a nasty snipe that beat the Wild Goalie over his left shoulder to give the Stars a commanding 5-1 lead.
Despite forgetting his losing track of his shoulder pads prior to the game, Frisch was a super star for the Stars. His puck possession skills and quick release shot are what set him apart from the other players in the league.
The Stars are 2-0 and will face the Kings Saturday at 5:00 Saturday and the Wild will buckle it up against the Bolts at 5:45 at the Sports Center in Moorhead

Ryder Donovan snipes one for the Devils Saturday
From the drop of the puck, the Devils and Lightning played hard and fought for 50 minutes. The players did everything but fight on Saturday afternoon. They tripped, they slashed and crosschecked their way across the rink trying to gain the upper hand. Both teams had great chances and great goal tending throughout the game.
In the first, half Ryan Ullan and Will Johnson made some great saves for the Lightning to keep the game close at 2-1. Derek Roberts scored for the Bolts on a rebound tuck in and Dontae Lawson and Brendan Baker each scored for the Devils. In the second, the lone goal came on a pretty top shelf breakaway goal by Duluth East standout Ryder Donovan to give the Devils a 3-1 win.
The Devils Ryan Ullan has only allowed only one goal in his two games in the league - faced a stiff test in both games. On two occasions the red post was his best friend.
The Devils are 2-0 and will face the Pens Saturday night and the Bolts are 3-2 and will take on the Wild in the BEL night cap.
Jack Bayless hits post late in the second period for the Bolts
The Flyers knocked off the Kings in the day's most exciting game 5-4 in an epic shootout that lasted seven shooters...the longest shootout in league history. The game was a tale of two periods, one with a lot of scoring and another with great defense and special teams.
In the first, the Kings jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the first on Jared Anderson's goal and assist. But the Flyers answered quickly scoring the next three goals to lead 4-3 at the half. Declan Beers had another great game scoring two goals in the first for the Flyers.
The second half only saw one goal, a nifty one timer buy dangle-king Nick Davison to even the score at 4-4. Both teams battled in the second but neither team could score. In the final two minutes the Flyers, playing with only 10 skaters tired and took two penalties. They were able hold off the Kings powerplay and earn at least one point heading into the shootout.
The Shootout was craziness for the coaches and blast for the fans to watch. After both teams only scored once in the first three shooters, the Shootout went to Sudden Death with a twist. The Bantam Elite League plays a modified International rules which "allows" each coach the ability to pick any player to shoot. Both fourth shooters converted (Trevor Kukkonen - Kings, Declan Beers - Flyers). And then it was the Goalies turn to make big saves. Justin Bach and Muzzy Donohue came up big twice to send it to the seventh shooter. Davison was denied by Bach and Grant Docter filled the Flyers prescription and beat Donohue for the W.

In the second half, the B's Jack Jensen scored two goals to power his team to the win Saturday afternoon. They improved their record to 3-3 in the League. They face the Kings Sunday in a battle in the middle of the BEL standings. The Pens finish up with the Devils Saturday night and the Flyers Sunday morning.
The Lightning beat got their second straight high scoring win over the Wild in two weeks 6-5. In their first game against the Wild on August 4th, they won 6-4. Saturday both teams showed high skill and scoring in an up and down affair.
Leading 4-2 after one, the two teams exploded in the early second half scoring three goals in the first two minutes, two by the Wild (Luke Herzog and Brett Chorske) and one by the Bolts (Blaine Warnert). Keegan Johnson got the equalizer for the Wild halfway through the half and the game amped up from there.
The Lightning were too much for the Wild down the stretch on both ends of the rink. Will Johnson was outstanding in the net stopping 21 pucks his way to keep the Bolts in it and Jack Bayless would get his second of the night putting a shot between the legs of Wild Goalie Ben Fritzinger to give the Blue and Black the win.
The Lightning snapped their two game losing streak upping their record to 4-2. They will take on the North Stars on Sunday. The Wild fell to 2-3-1 and will face the undefeated Devils Sunday morning.

Darian Gotz had the Hatty Saturday in the Devils 7-0 win over the Pens.
The Devils knocked off the Pens 7-0 Saturday at the Moorhead Youth Rink to move their record to 3-0 in the Bantam Elite League. Darian Gotz lead the Red and Black with three goals and Ryan Ullan earned his second shutout turing away 21 of 21 shots. Ullan continues to impress YHH every time he hits the ice. Besides his size and technical ability, Ullan has cat-like reflexes that help him make second and third saves most goalies cant' get to.
Energized with a big win over the league leading Bolts earlier in the day, the Devils built on their success winning puck battles and converting on scoring chances. Cloquet's Landon Langenbrunner added a goal and an assist for the Devils as they scored four goals in the second half to march past the Penguins who fell to 2-4 in the League.
The Devils will go for the weekend sweep Sunday when they take on the Wild at the Moorhead Youth Rink. The Pens will look to snap their four game losing streak when they take on the red hot Flyers.
