Jack Bayless scores one of his two goals for the Bolts Wednesday

The Bruins beat the Lightning 6-3 Wednesday to kick off both teams second half of their Bantam Elite season at Bloomington Ice Garden. The win secured a tie for first place for the B's as they upped their record to 5-3 and 15 points so far on the season.

The game pitted long time friends and coaching pals Adam Sharratt (Bolts) and Jake Fleming (Bruins) on opposite benches. Fleming's got the best of the Bolts on Wednesday. After starting Goalie Joe Daninger (Blaine) fought off 11 shots in the first six minutes, the Bruins got a "goal" by Devon Jirik. Jirik put the puck in front of the net and a Bolts defender accidentally deflected it into his own cage.

After Jack Bayless struck back for the Bolts, the Bruins answered again with two quick goals, one by Brendan McFadden on a power move around the Goalie and another on a pretty one timer by Josh Luedtke. Bayless would get his second of the period on a pretty one-time pass from Andover's Charlie Schoen to cut the lead to 3-2 at the half.

Luke Williams with the insurance goal for the B's

Mason Nevers padded the Bruins lead to 4-2 on a pretty one time shot after a Lightning turnover in their own zone. But before you could text your friend or spouse an update, the Bolts scored to answer. Eden Prairie's Spencer Rudrud beat Daninger on the backhand to cut the B's lead to 4-3.

Luke Williams would get the all important next goal to seal the win for the Black and Gold. After a pretty outlet pass from Luedtke, Williams and McFadden broke in two on one. Williams held the Bolts Goalie long enough and beat him five hole to seal the game.

With the win, the Bruins move to 5-3 on the season and a tie for first place with the Lightning. Since starting 3-0, the Lightning have struggled to maintain the pace they had established in the first three games.
