Can Anyone Stop OMG?

The Three Amigos: Justin Janicke, Brock Faber and Kyle Kukkonen will lead the Crimson this weekend

The 3o3 Best of Best Fall Preview kicks off their second weekend Friday at the brand new 3 on 3 rink in Osseo. The first weekend, Minnetonka won the Bantams beating Maple Grove in the final.

The PeeWee field is pretty solid top to bottom.

A Pool: Maple Grove, Andover, Elk River, Mahtomedi, and Mounds View

Maple Grove is the unofficial host of the event and the prohibitive favorite to win this weekend. The core of this team is the same core that went undefeated as Squirts two years ago. Brock Faber ('14 Wiz Wyatt Winner), Kyle Kukkonen, and Justin Janicke headline this team...but their supporting cast is what really makes this team so special. They are highly skilled and very deep in talent. This Summer, we got a first hand look of how good Ethan Elias can be as a scorer and how solid Jack Wieneke can be in the pipes. Look for this team to be tough to beat.

The "home" team didn't do themselves any favors putting the Andover Huskies in their pool, they will trot out Mitchell Wolfe, Wyatt Kaiser and Goalie Austin Brauns..one scorer (Wolfe), the best defenseman in the tourney (Kaiser) and a great goalie (Brauns). They play Maple Grove to start the tourney.

The legion of great players in the A pool is not just in Andover and Maple Grove. Mounds View has Mounds View Irondale which means we will see Tyler Chamberlain, Griffin Bourassa and Zach Reim - they will be tough to beat. And don't forget about Elk River who has Joe Greniuk, Blake Johnson and Connor Kurth - three guys that know how to put the puck in the net. Lastly, Mahtomedi who may be the best team in District 2 this year has a shot with super star goalie Ben Dardis, Isak Nightengale and Ryan Chesley.

The Call: With four Pool Play games and home ice advantage we see Maple Grove taking the A pool. They will be challenged in each game.

Chaska Chan was a solid team two years ago in Squirts

B Pool: Armstrong, Mound Westonka, Chaska Chan, Woodbury and White Bear Lake

The B pool appears to be just as strong as the A. Mound Westonka will be one of the best PWA teams in Minnesota and their team this weekend will show why they are so good. Luke Roelofs will roll up his sleeves and get his hands dirty for the White Hawks. His supporting cast is also tough, Mitchell Krebsbach is a speedster and Dylan Haliwill is a great net minder. They will face great competition in White Bear Lake, Chaska Chan and Woodbury. The Bears were the second best Squirt team two years ago and will have a great chance to win every game this year. They have Lleyton Roed roaming the ice - this kid is a bona fide superstar. What makes him so special is he plays so hard on both ends of the rink. Chaska Chan had a nice team two years ago at Squirts surprising several teams and writers at YHH in several tournaments including Eden Prairie and Fargo. Watch out for Gavin Brown and Breaden Sanders for the StormHawks, they both have a great nose for the net. Woodbury has a lot of talent, too. First year playmaker Dylan Godbout will get it done for the Preds, as will Caden Nienow. They will be successful because of guys like Max Zupfer...a big guy who really likes to mix it up.

The Call: White Bear has the best depth in this pool, they will be tested in all four games, but we think the Bears will see Maple Grove in the Finals on Sunday.

Lleyton Roed from White Bear will be tough to stop this weekend at 303.
