54 top '05 Players hit the ice next Weekend in St. Cloud

Woodbury's Dylan Godbout fires a slapper last June for Team Great Plains.

Team selection for the Great Plains team at next Summer's North American Hockey Showcase in Bloomington will begin this weekend. Over fifty players will vie to make the team that will take on the best players born in 2005 from all over North America in June. Last year, Great Plains finished second in the US losing on a tiebreaker to eventual Runner Up Southeast. Below is a link to a highlight video that was produced for the team following the event.

Great Plains looks to tap into a very strong class of 2005 aged players from mostly Minnesota to take to The Show next Summer. "We learned a lot last Summer and we are looking forward to putting together another strong team this year," said Head Coach Dave Snuggerud. In the coming weeks, the team will be announced and begin preparation for The Show.

Thank you to all players who signed up and tried out for the Great Plains team this past weekend. There were tough decisions Friday for Saturday's Skate, Saturday between Roster and Practice Players and Practice Players and those not selected.

Roster Players - Congratulations to the 14 players selected to the 2016 Great Plains team that will play in The Show next Summer in Bloomington. Players will receive an email with registration instructions within the next 10 days. Our team will need a Team Manager to step forward ASAP.

Practice Players - Players selected to be Practice Players will be notified of specifics at the same time we notify Roster Players. From our pool of Practice Players we will select the final three players to our team in the Spring.

Players not Selected - the pool of players this weekend was filled with several top players that all have a great future in hockey. The tryout process was open to any 2005 birth-year boy or girl in our region. Signing up and taking a shot at this great team is a big first step. Please use the sessions in St. Cloud as a building block to your game, not a deterrent to keep working hard.
