Andrew Gleason's shot takes a bit of a deflection and finds the back of the net for the go ahead goal for Arapahoe
The top seeded Arapahoe Warriors and the fourth seeded Boulder Bison took to the ice at the Pepsi Center Monday night to determine who would represent the state and the Colorado Avalanche organization at the Quebec International Tournament in February.
After four days of tournament play between 13 of the state's top pee wee AA teams, we have narrowed it down to the final two for all the marbles.
Arapahoe was named the top seed with convincing victories in pool play, outscoring their opponents 12-0 in the first two games. Boulder, the defending Quebec Qualifier Champs, also won their first two games earning the four seed overall.
The Bison then went on to win an ice melter of a game against Hyland Hills in double OT of the quarterfinals and also upset the #2 seed Littleton (Black) Hawks 7-4 in the semis.
Arapahoe seemed to cruise into the finals proving to everyone why they were the #1 seed. During the entire tournament (5 games) they only gave up 5 goals. Their closest contest came in the quarterfinals when the #10 seed DU Jr. Pioneers gave them a game, but came up short 4-3.
Boulder came out riding the wave of emotions that led to victory in the semifinals, as Thomas Faber scored the games first goal for the Bison. The Warriors would answer back before the end of the first when Jack Chandler lit the lamp to tie it at 1-1.
The second period would be all Arapahoe however, with Andrew Gleason and Jonathan Cole putting the icing on the cake scoring what ended up being the last two goals of the game. The third period would be a scoreless one and the Arapahoe Warriors would go on to win the Quebec Qualifier Championship 3-1.
A big tap of the stick to all the teams and players for an outstanding tournament and thank you to the Colorado Avalanche organization for putting on another fabulous Quebec Qualifier. Congratulations to the Arapahoe Warriors and good luck in Quebec!
The Arapahoe Warriors were a well balanced team with many great contributors. We would like to spotlight #9 Jack Chandler and #14 Jonathan Cole as two of the top performers for the 2015 Quebec Qualifier Champions. Jonathan Cole scored a goal in every game and had 7 points (6G,1A) in five games and Jack Chandler had 9 points (3G, 6A) in the tournament for the Warriors.
