Derek Abrahamson scores short handed Thursday, his second of the night

Derek Abrahamson scored 49 seconds into the game for Princeton

The game began to even out in the second period, MAML caught their stride and began to pressure Princeton goalie Gabe Pangerl who stopped 21 of 22 shots on the night. With MAML on the power play halfway through the game, Abrahamson got into the act again stealing a puck on the blue line. Using his speed to separate from a MAML defender, Abrahamson made a quick move on MAML goalie Connor Bird and beat him top shelf to put the game out of reach in this very clean and tight checking game. "I barely got past their guy and tried to put it upstairs and it went in," said Abrahamson after the game.

Jake Oakes ices the game for Princeton late

The two teams traded goals late in the third period to finish the game at 4-1. Jaden Jarmuzek tallied a snipe past Pangerl and junior Jake Oakes matched it with a snipe of his own for the Tigers. "This win is huge for us, we knew coming into the season it was going to be us, MAML and Chisago for the top spot in this section," said Princeton Head Coach Jeff Hanson.

Up next: Princeton takes on another section 5A rival Saturday, when they travel to Chisago Lakes. MAML will host St. Francis Saturday.
