Cardinals get a pair of goals by Carlson, Jost and Wosepka

Alexandria got two goals each from Matthew Carlson, Zach Wosepka, and Alex Jost to defeat the Northern Lakes Lightning 8-3 Saturday and remain in first place of the District 15 Bantam A standings.  Coming into the game Alexandria stood on top of district 15 with a two point lead over second place Detroit Lakes and led the third place Lightning by 5 points.

After one period of play Alexandria held a 2-1 lead on goals by Ben Jensen and Matthew Carlson.  The Lightning's Kasey Couture scored early in the second to tie the game at 2 goals apiece.  Alexandria took control by scoring the next four goals of the period to hold a 6-2 advantage after two periods of play.

Zechariah Trenckenschuh scores for Lightning Saturday

After a dominant second period Zach Wosepka recorded his second goal of the game early in the third to put the Cardinals up 7-2 to start running time.  Zechariah Trenkenschuh responsed for the Lightning to cut Alexandria's lead to 7-3 and put a stop to running time.  That would be as close as the Lightning would get as Alex Just's 2nd goal of the game would put the Cardinals up by 5 again.  That would end the scoring and Alexandria would head home with a 8-3 win and remain in first place of the District 15 Bantam A standings.
