After a very strong showing in pool and bracket play, the Fox Motors Nationals (formerly the Michigan Nationals) beat the Dallas Stars 5-1 Monday to take their organization's Tier 1 Elite championship at the Schwan Super Rink on the campus of the National Sports Center.

The Nats jumped on the Stars scoring three goals in the first period, the biggest a rocket by Colin Stecco that beat Dallas goalie Josh Langford glove side with 26 second left in the period to give them a 3-0 lead at the first intermission. Fox did a great job the entire period bottling up the Stars in their own zone, winning pucks battles with an aggressive forecheck.

Facing a three goal deficit heading into the second, Dallas came out in the second playing inspired hockey, out playing and outshooting the Nats for the first few minutes. But five minutes into the second, the Nats' Sam Skinner lofted a shot toward Langford that hand cuffed him and trickled past him to give them a 4-0 lead.
