Some say it's hard work. Some say it's a hot goalie. Some even say it's talent that is the key to making it to the state tournament.
Another key ingredient may be making a video prior to the season or playoffs. Three such teams made a fun video and all three punched their ticket to the X on Thursday night.
Burnsville - Ninth grade teacher Silberman had an idea to generate interest for the team as they headed into sections. The result was a masterpiece film with some great and not so great acting by the team and its fans. Burnsville showed no love for St. Thomas, they won 7-1 and are headed to the X.
Five stars for creativity.
Cathedral - Jack Petroske and a band of his buddies teamed up to re-create the scene from "Miracle" where the teams bonds together in a meeting with coach Brooks. In a frame by frame replica of the original film the boys add "state tournament" into theirs instead of Lake Placid. Actors include other Crusaders Camren Dehler, Max LaBine, Jake Vanhalbeck (Herb), Vince McStott and Mitchell Hess. Petroske and Michael Spethmann each had hat tricks Thursday in their 10-2 win over Little Falls.

Grand Rapids - The final video was an awareness video produced by the Grand Rapids team prior to sections. It tackles tough issues of domestic violence, but they use some great performances from players and coach Trent Klatt to entertain their fans. All at the same time expressing some important life themes like respecting women, saying sorry and letting go. The Thunderhawks were also impressive Thursday on the ice in Duluth exorcising some old demons beating Duluth East 6-5 and punching a ticket to St. Paul for the first time since 2007.
