Two games go to overtime, two games weren't that close.

Let's start with the thrillers first. Luke Fairchild busted a 3-3 time with a rocket to lead Wayzata to a deja vu special for the Trojans, as they beat EP. The Trojans are this year's cardiac kids, winning in OT to make it to state and now again in the first round. Cloquet scored three unanswered goals to beat Blaine 6-5 in overtime. Gavin Rasmussen got the game winner using his speed to score on a semi-breakaway. Aaron Moore and Landon Langenbrunner had two goals a piece for the Lumberjacks...Will Hillman finished with two for the Bengals.

Tourney favorite Minnetonka beat Elk River 6-1, Luke Loheit, Teddy Lagerback and Clay Hanus each had a pair of goals for the Skippers. Moorhead over powered Rochester 6-2, Gavin Fullmer had a 2G/1A for the Spuds. They will face Wayzata for a berth in the state title game on Saturday. Last year the Spuds fell to Edina on the same semifinal Saturday.

The Bantam A's was likely the craziest first round of the group we covered...Orono's Carson Limesand stops 39 shots and the Spartan beat Edina 4-3 in a game with a crazy finish. Kevin Kvaal had two goals as Mounds View Irondale unseats YHH choice to win state Burnsville, 4-1. MVI has had a great second half of the season....these boys believe!

In another wacky game Friday, East Grand Forks wins in overtime for the second straight game when their season was on the line. This time it was Jakob Hjelle for the Green Wave as the hero. Virginia's Cade Moreland had a Hatty for the Blue Devils.

Huge day in Bantam B. As big of an upset as youth state has seen in a long time. It is not rare for a number one team to fall, but an undefeated number one team and a NOW Rankings ranked #1 team in one day is blue moon kind of stuff. 

The vaunted Brainerd Blues fell 4-1 to Elk River and Edina Green shocked number one NOW ranked Rosemount 2-1 in overtime. Elk River will take on the state's hottest team Orono White and Edina Green will take Rogers who has won seven of their last eight.
