"It just got boring," said one Maple Grove parent

After winning four consecutive YHH Squirtaculars and amassing a gaudy 142-7-3 record over the last four seasons at Squirt A, Osseo Maple Grove Hockey Association has elected to split its top Squirts into two evenly balanced teams for 2016/17. "We aren't fooling around when it comes to developing our players," not said by Rob Borsch OMGHA President. "We are very proud of our past record at the Squirt A level, but it was just time to give more kids a chance to play at a higher level."

A bold move that will try to replicate the success Edina has had at the squirt level the past four seasons after similar squirt success in 2010/11 and 2011/12. Expect much of the same from the Leafbirds next Winter.

2013-14 39 0 1
2014-15 34 3 0
2015-16 38 1 0

Borsch went onto not say, "we got to the point where we were considering skating four players versus the other team's five to make it fair." The president of many words and strong opinion didn't continue, "we actually thought of going to three Squirt A teams, but that got shot down."
