Konrad Kausch was announced the 2016 Goalie of the Year Wednesday on Ten Minutes with Tony Scott. Kausch was selected over 11 other youth goalies nominated at the close of the season. Kausch completed his two year PeeWee career taking second place in the state with Duluth East's PeeWee AA team. Kausch's coach Chris Locker said of Kausch, "He has an elite hockey IQ and can read the play incredibly. He reminds me of a young former Shattuck St. Mary's goaltender and future gopher Ryan Edquist."
Kausch joins a nice list of past Goalie of the Year winners Zach Stejskal (Grand Rapids, 2014) and Carsen Stokes (Prior Lake, 2015). The Goalie of the Year award is voted on by coaches from all over the state at all three levels. One goalie is chosen for both their overall athletic/technical ability and season-long performance.
