Trey Fechko continued his strong play for Gray on Saturday
Day four, and we’re drawing to a close of the NOW Prospects Minor Division Combine.
At Stillwater’s LumberYard bright and early, players were on the ice, in the weight room and testing their shot velocity.
All participants competed in sprints, pull-ups, shot power, stickhandling prowess and skating speed, both forwards and backwards.
This measurable data will be published sometime after the combine, following the end of the three-on-three portion of the combine that ends on Sunday.
The platers battled their way through two games per each team for eight contests total, separated into afternoon and evening sessions.
Gold (2) downed Maroon (1) 23-18 to start the afternoon, followed by Gray (2) thumping White (2) 24-9, White (1) edging Gray (1) 15-11 and Gold (2) sneaking past Maroon (2) 15-14. Gold (2) goaltender Aksel Reid was the clutch performer in the afternoon, stopping a Maroon (2) breakaway attempt to cement the win for this team.
In three-on-three, scores will always be high. That's not to discount the exceptional play of goaltenders and defenders, who have stood up admirably to the fast-paced action.

Tyler Kotzmacher, Maroon
Shifty skater with devastating speed, Kotzmacher is always a threat in the offensive zone.
Trevor Boschee, Gray
The goaltender has been solid throughout the Combine, but he really stood on his head in 3-on-3 action. Good lateral movement and a clutch glove.
Owen Hendrikson, Gray
Smooth defender combines top-end speed with steady hands and accurate shot.
William Matzke, White
Another player who’s done nothing but impress this week, Matzke is a master at finding space on the ice and taking advantage of opponent’s mistakes.
Nathan Jaglo, Gold
Never caught out of place, Jaglo is a goal-scorer’s goal-scorer. Shows grit and tenacity in one-on-one situations.
