Luke Roberts will man the crease for Alberta
As much as the Americans are the up and comer in hockey, the Canadiens are the patriarch. They are use to winning wherever they go (except in the NHL of course, ha ha). In the Brick and The Show, Canadien teams have dominated for the last several years...many don't believe this trend won't continue.
Every team from north of the border brings great talent and very high expectations for their team as they enter an all-Canada affair. All coaches were excited about the format change. One western coach told YHH, "playing a team from Ontario, Quebec or Atlantic is as foreign to us as a US team...we are really excited."
YHH is excited too, to see so many kids from such a tradition rich hockey country as Canada in the state of hockey for a week.
Mathieu Cataford, Quebec - does everything on the ice except teach french...be careful of his effortless stride ability to put the puck in the net.
Connor Dale, Alberta - an impressive goal scorer who plays hard on both ends of the ice...cut from the same mold as Matthew Savoie.
Vince Ellie, Team Canada - the Montreal native is the complete package...fast as lightning with a wicked shot.
Riley Heidt, Saskatchewan - terrific player who can beat you with his speed or hands.
Anthony Romani, Ontario - one of many big time players for Ontario...is a five tool player who is very comfortable on a big stage like The Show.
Riley Heidt
The province of Ontario has 13.6 million people and 13.5 conservatively play hockey. With only one team of stars coming to the Twin Cities, it is impossible to choose against Octane Elite (Ontario). This class of players coming to Minnesota is really strong - we could see any of the teams make a run.
With eight games in 5 days, the team that stays rested (and has a hot goalie) will likely represent the red maple leaf on Sunday for the championship.
Favorite: Ontario
Don't Forget: Quebec
Sleeper: Saskatchewan
If Colson Smith and the Mustangs (Manitoba) can get a few breaks - watch out.
