Metropolitan's Jesse Allecia scores in 9-0 win over Team USA
Kaden Shahan scored at 4:30 of overtime to lift Rocky Mountain to a thrilling 5-4 victory over Midwest in the first game of the 2016 North American Hockey Showcase.
Shahan was one of five players to tally a goal for Rocky Mountain, with Cole Bridges, Jacob Margarit, Christian Kim and Brody Clarke joining Shahan on the scoresheet. Kim also added two assists in the win.
Hunter Ramos and Kyle Rohrer each scored twice for Midwest.
Saskatchewan was able to thwart a late charge by British Columbia to escape with the one-goal victory. British Columbia came within one with 43 seconds to play on a goal by Cosmo Wilson, but Saskatchewan goaltender Declan Boser made several clutch saves to close out the win.
Brayden Yager, Nate Misskey, Caden Price and Tyson Yaremko each scored once for Saskatchewan.
In addition to Wilson, Ty Halaburda and Ryden Evers scored for British Columbia. Andrew Christall racked up three assists for British Columbia.
Three players scored two goals each for Metropolitan, with Jesse Allecia, Ryan Fine and Tanner Adams highlighting a balanced scoring effort.
Fine also dished out three assists for an impressive five-point performance, which was only outshone by defenseman Tyler Vitolo's ridiculous seven-point night on seven assists.
Salvatore Guzzo scored a goal and had two assists for Metropolitan, and Michael Hagens and Logan Renkowski scored one goal apiece in the win.
After battling through three periods and an overtime session, Southeast slipped past Great Plains in a shootout.
Connor Brown scored on a nifty backhand to earn the win for Southeast after scoring in the first period.
Skogen Schrott scored two goals for Southeast, and Jai Van Rij and Kegan Lampinen also scored for Southeast.
William Whitelaw scored two goals for Great Plains, with Wyatt Olson, Joseph Sylvester and Sam Sheetz also notching goals in the loss.

Easton Wainwright, Braeden O’Keefe and Zachary Coutu all scored two goals to lead Team Canada to a decisive 7-1 victory over the Atlantic Provinces. Tyler Pazin added a goal for Team Canada. Joey Messina played distributor, handing out a pair of assists in the win.
Ben Cross scored the lone goal for the Atlantic Provinces.
Five different players scored for Mid-Atlantic, with Nicholas Fascia, Chris Pelosi, Charlie Cerrato, Lucas Kickhofel and Ryan Bunting all tallying goals.
New England mustered a great comeback late in the third period, with Ryan Leonard scoring two of his three goals in the final 1:18 of regulation to pull New England within one. Will Smith scored the other goal for New England.
Ryan Bunting tacks on a goal for Mid-Atlantic
Team Ontario scored four goals in the third period, and Cal Ritchie put on a show for Ontario by scoring two goals and adding two assists to lead Ontario to the win over provincial rival Quebec.
Nick Lardis also scored twice for Ontario, with Cam Allen, Carey Terrance and Anthony Romani all chipping in a single goal.
Ethan Gauthier and Mathieu Cataford each scored once for Quebec, which came within one goal of tying the game entering the third period.
Great Lakes scored five goals in the second period to cruise to a win over Rocky Mountain, thanks in large part to the play of Jacob Terpstra, who had a Hatty and a pair of assists to lead Great Lakes.
Brennan Green and Brandon Hilton each added two goals for Great Lakes, with Mitch King and Nate Murray chipping in a goal apiece in the win.
Rocky Mountain could have been feeling the fatigue of a second game, but put up a fight nonetheless. Jacob Margarit, Carter Charles, Ben Sujack and Adam Stevenson all tallying goals for Rocky Mountain.
Each team scored twice in the second period, but Alberta pulled out the victory behind a balanced attack.
