Mahtomedi's Simon Seidl among top tourney scorers

After four games in Edmonton, Team Minnesota has shown why so many people were optimistic about this year's team in the Brick Super Novice. In 2013, Team Minnesota lead by Chaz and Cruz Lucius got to the Final four before losing to the eventual champion Toronto Bulldogs.

This year's team has run the table so far, winning all four games and carrying the play with two very strong lines, great defensive play and two great goalies.

In game one, Hermantown's Max Plante had two goals to lead the way. The grandson of high school coach Bruce Plante and son to coach Derek, Plante has been a spark plug for the state of hockey.

In game two, Minnesota spotted Montreal a goal and then steam rolled the Storm with four straight goals. Lakeville's Brendan McMorrow had three points.

Playing two games in eight hours, Minnesota took out California 3-1 powered by an eight point performance from the Simon Seidl, Lucas Mann, McMorrow line. A line that hurts mosts teams every shift they hit the ice.

With a 3-0 record, Minnesota jumped all over Toronto Pro Hockey scoring two goals on their first two shots on goal and then got great defense and goaltending from Angeo Basson to claim a spot in the playoffs.

Team Minnesota will face undefeated Winnipeg Thursday and Boston Friday. With a couple regulation wins, Team MN can earn a first round bye in the six team playoff system.

Up Front: The first two lines for Minnesota have been electric (McMorrow-Seidl-Mann and Plante-Ben Miler-Cole Jackson). It will be hard for teams to keep these two groups off the score sheet.

Defense wins championships: Barrett Dexheimer (Edina) and Adam Kleber (Chaska) have been extraordinary so far...by tourney-end, Minnesota will need more production the other four defensemen to make a deep run in the playoffs.

Goalie Gods: Angeo Basson (British Columbia) and Carter George (Thunder Bay) are two big reasons this team has been so tough to beat...these two have allowed only three goals in four games.
