Max Plante lead Team MN in scoring last week at the Brick
The Brick Invitational in Edmonton, AB has become a big time destination for top players from all over North America to show case their talents. Over the past 20 plus years, several great players have made their way to northern Edmonton to play in the West Edmonton Mall.
Team Minnesota has fielded a team of mostly Minnesota talent each year that have tried to take on North America's finest Major Squirt talent. No Minnesota team has won the Brick and only one had made it to the finals (2007).
On Thursday, Minnesota claimed the top seed in the playoffs by beating Winnipeg 4-1 running their record to 5-0. On Saturday, they knocked out the Toronto Bulldogs, winners of four out of the past five Brick championships, beating the dogs 3-1 exorcising some past demons for a few Team MN teams in recent past.
On Sunday, they brought their A game against the BC Jr. Canucks. Playing hard from start to finish. After falling behind 2-0 in the second period, Ben Miller scored for Minnesota to cut the BC lead to 2-1. The Miller goal lit a fire underneath the team as they carried play for most of the second period. Late in the second period after a Minnesota turnover, Dryden Kuramoto found All Brick first teamer Tomas Mrsic in front who deflected it home to give BC a 3-1 lead at the break. Mrsic, AKA "Mr. Sick" scored again in the third to net his second hat trick of the Brick playoffs as BC went on to a 5-1 win.
