Matt Gleason scores pretty goal for Penguins Saturday in the Bantam Elite League

The Penguins got four goals from four different players en route to a 4-0 shutout win over the Blackhawks Saturday in Moorhead. Caleb Mayer and Will Pinney combined for a 26 save shutout to lead the Pens who at times were outplayed by the younger Hawks in the Bantam Elite League.

Mayer and Pinney both made big saves in their halves of play - each also got into the play moving the puck like a third defenseman. Matt Gleason (shorty), Gavin Best, Cade Ahrenholz and Adam Eisele each tallied a goal for the Pens as they went to 2-0 on the young BEL season.

The Kings earned their first win of the Bantam Elite League Saturday knocking off the North Stars 3-1. Tyler Braccini had a goal and an assist for the Kings and goalies Ethan Haider and Conner Nelsen stopped 29 of 30 shots for the combined win.

The Kings took a 2-0 lead at the half on goals by Tyler Oakland and Braccini. The Stars got a goal from hometowner Caden Triggs in the loss.

The Bruins and Flyers played in a fast paced high scoring affair Saturday in the Bantam Elite League. The final score was a tie, 5-5 with the Bruins taking the shoot out for the extra point in the standings. 

Shane LaVelle did everything but clean the bathrooms in Moorhead Saturday, scoring two goals and adding two assists for the Bruins. In the shootout, LaVelle scored the only goal and teammate Ben Bullis stopped all three for the W.

Caleb Mayer, Penguins - collected a half shut-out Saturday stopping all kinds of shots from all kinds of spots....has 1.00 GAA.

Tyler Kleven, Stars - great skater and puck handlers who is not afraid to mix things up.

Shane LaVelle, Bruins - leads league in scoring with six points in two games. Great acceleration and hands.

Shane Griffin, Flyers - a man amongst boys physically -- has great offensive tools...showed off his shot Saturday.

Jack Reimann, Hawks - great skater and puck handler, uses great hockey sense to be in the right place at the right time.

Luc Laylin, Kings - great skater with amazing hands, very productive with and without the puck. 

Adam Eisele, Penguins - had a great game against the Flyers finishing with two goals. Plays with great energy and a hard edge if necessary.

Griffin Streeter, Flyers - versatile forward who has a great scorer's touch. Has three goals in three games.

Austen Humphrey, Bruins - tremendous talent with size  and tenacity. A top five scorer in the league that has been hard to stop.

Caleb Strong, North Stars - had the sickest snipe of the weekend beating Nathan Mueller bar down.

The Blackhawks, built of all incoming first year PeeWees earned their first win in the Bantam Elite League Saturday with a 6-4 win over the Kings. Jack Reimann had two second half goals and Konrad Kausch turned away all but one to lead the Hawks to the win.

After trailing 3-1 after the first half, Reimann scored in the opening minute of the half to set the tone for the Hawks who had five goals in the half. Tied at 4, Jakob Stender took a pretty feed from Joe Miller and stuffed it home with 5:55 to go for the game winner. 

Both the Hawks and Kings are 1-2 heading into their final game Sunday morning.

The Pens were all smiles Saturday

After building a 5-1 lead the Penguins hung on to beat the Flyers 5-4 Saturday evening in Moorhead to extend their record to 3-0. Lead by Adam Eisele and Matt Gleason's two goals - the Penguins outworked and outscored the Flyers for 40 minutes. 

The final ten minutes YHH saw what the Flyers were made of as they scored three goals (Luke Johnson, Griffin Streeter, Teddy Lagerback) to make the game interesting. The Flyers fell to 1-1-1 and will face the North Stars Sunday, while the Pens will take on Kings in the early game at 8:00 am on Sunday.

The Bruins beat the North Stars in a shootout Saturday to grab an extra point after the two teams played to a 2-2 tie. The Stars played their best game of the weekend, picking up their pace and physical play earning their first point. The Bruins played won their second shootout of the day after beating the Flyers earlier in the day.

Shane LaVelle continued his great weekend with a goal and an assist for the Bruins. The winger from Chaska leads the Bantam Elite League with eight points in three games.
