William Whitelaw tickles twine for Great Plains as they beat Midwest in the 2016 Show

On October 21st and 22nd, 2006 birth year players from all over the upper Midwest are invited to try out for the Great Plains team that will participate in The North American Hockey Showcase - The Show. The Show will be played June 27 to July 2 at Bloomington Ice Garden in Bloomington, MN. The weeklong event will feature the top 2006 players from all over North America competing for province or area bragging rights.

Last year, the Great Plains team finished fourth in the USA with a record of 4-3-1. Lead by top scorers William Whitelaw (all tourney team), Danny Nelson and Wyatt Olson the Great Plains played some amazing hockey including a last second loss to eventual US champ the Connecticut Jr. Rangers. Other stars on the Great Plains team were defensemen Eddie Revenig (MPLS), Matthew Magnuson (Chanhassen) and Ty Hanson (Duluth).

Starting today, Team Great Plains will begin its journey to BIG to choose the best team to represent the upper midwest next Summer.  Great Plains will only take 72 skaters for the tryout.

There will be 3 sessions on Friday (2 Skater and 1 Goalie) and one on Saturday to determine the final roster that will be posted on YHH in early November. Sessions will be run by Great Plains Head Coach Dave Snuggerud. Tryouts will evaluated by independent coaches from the area and the Great Plains Coaching Staff/Management team.

Sessions are:

Goalie - Friday, October 21 (5:00 pm) - St. Cloud MAC
Skater - Friday, October 21 (6:15 pm) - St. Cloud MAC
Skater - Friday, October 21 (7:30 pm) - St. Cloud MAC

At the completion of Friday's evaluation, 30 Skaters will be invited Friday night for a Final Skate on Saturday, October 22 (8:00 to 9:30 am).
