There may not have been a trophy, or a medal ceremony, or a "championship" game, but the final day of the Prospects Showcase in Buffalo did not disappoint.
The Mid-Fairfield Jr. Rangers were impressive all weekend, winning all five games and outscoring their opponents by a combined 26-6. What's more telling of the team's talent is the level of competition they performed against, winning games over third place Florida Alliance 5-2 and fourth place Chicago Young Americans 6-0.
Mississauga again came through with a win on Sunday, capping the weekend by winning three straight games after dropping its first two on Friday. The Rebels finished the weekend 3-2-0, good for fourth in the standings.
Overall, four teams finished fourth with six points, with the MN Fire and the Buffalo Jr. Sabers joining CYA and Mississauga.
Detroit Honeybaked finished second overall, it's only "blemish" being a 5-5 tie with Florida.
Josh De Souza became a difference-maker for Mississauga as the weekend went on.
Charlie Emme finished the weekend with a goal and four assists for CYA.
Josh De Souza, Mississauga Rebels
De Souza's play picked up on the second and third days of competition, thanks to his nose for the net.
Edward Paulissian, Chicago Young Americans
Pure power forward, Paulissian also has good speed for a bruising forward.
Brody Seitz, Buffalo Jr. Sabers
Seitz has great speed and sure hands, but more importantly, he plays with patience and common sense.
Jacob Fowler, Florida Alliance
Fowler was the difference in Sunday's 1-0 win over Chicago Young Americans, finishing with 20 saves to earn the shutout.
Ryan Sicchio, South Shore Kings
Sicchio is slightly undersized, but attacks the net like a true heavyweight. Excellent turn of direction and skating balance.
Brody Seitz was a spark plug for the Buffalo Jr. Sabers this weekend.
