St. Cloud, Grand Forks earn wins in Eden Prairie

St. Cloud's Grant Martin turned in 20 saves to earn the shutout, as the Huskies blanked defending Bantam AA state champion Minnetonka 2-0 on Friday morning. 

Luke Johnson and Jack Randolph each scored in the second period for the Huskies, and Jon Howe made 23 saves in the loss for the Skippers.

Grand Forks forward Jackson Kunz continues his strong play in tournaments east of the river, following his impressive performance in the Battle for the Blue Ox with a Texas hatty and a helper in the Aviators' 7-2 opening win over Blaine. 

Kunz scored the first three goals of the game, with Mason Thingvold, William Howard and Tyler Zahradka each adding one score each. 

Cam Shoberg and Logan Mellem were the goal-scorer's for the Bengals. 


Grant Martin made 20 saves to earn the shutout for St. Cloud.

Holy Family, Maple Grove advance in Turkey Trot

Holy Family Catholic earned its first win over Edina in program history, taking a 2-0 lead on goals by junior forward Ben Almquist and senior forward Patrick Reddan and then hanging on as the Hornets made a late charge in the game's waning moments. 

Junior goaltender Jared Moe made 22 saves for the Fire, and Mike Vorlicky scored his first varsity goal for the Hornets in the 2-1 loss. Edina junior goaltender Garrett Mackay made 27 saves.

Wayzata took a 1-0 lead over Maple Grove into the second period, and the Trojans were pleasantly greeted by four consecutive goals by Maple Grove, as the Crimson earned a 5-2 win. 

Jarrett Cammarata scored twice for Maple Grove, with Sam Huff, Hunter House and Justin Kelley each adding a single score.

Colin Schmidt and Jack Carlson scored once each for the Trojans.
