St. Cloud's Ben Condon turned away all but one shot Sunday in Brainerd

Most of the outstate districts completed their seasons last weekend...depending on the district some sent two or three teams per level to region playoffs starting in two weeks. District 11, 12, 15 and 16 up north are complete. We know District 4 and 9 are complete, but as of publish time of this post...results weren't in. In District 5, their districts much like Districts 2 and 10 are over halfway complete with several teams done for the year. Next weekend the top teams will play for titles and a few more teams will season's end.

In other metro action, district's 3 and 6 kicked off and will play throughout the week, as will District 8. As each district pairs down, YHH will set the stage for each level and in our Region Seeds post which will be live starting Tuesday.

STMA's Casy Laylin had four goals Sunday

This weekend Peewee AA teams from Duluth East, St Cloud, STMA, and Brainerd met in Brainerd for some round robin action.  Each team played twice on Saturday and concluded the weekend with a game Sunday morning.  YHH took in the Sunday morning action by watching Duluth East skate to a 1-0 win over Saint Cloud followed up by STMA beating the host Warriors 7-3.

Game one was a goalie dual between East's Parker Anderson and St Cloud's Ben Condon.  East's Lars Berg was the only player able to solve either goalie as he lit the lamp for East in the first period.  After that both goalies stole the show with East and Anderson winning the battle 1-0

In game two STMA tangled with the host Warrior's.  STMA built a three goal first period lead and never looked back as they skated to a 7-3 win over the hometown Warriors.  Casy Laylin provided the offense for STMA as he lit the lamp four times on Sunday.  Brainerd's Roby Maxwell lit the lamp for the Warriors early in second giving the Warriors hope as the lead was cut to 3-1.  STMA responded with three unasnwered goals pushing the lead to 6-1 and never looked back as they defeated Brainerd 7-3

Edina White came into the Fargo International with a lot to prove after a few near misses this year in the YHH Squirtacular and the Edina O'Connor. The Whites faced a perfect storm of six games and won them all to win the International. On Friday they dispatched both sides of the state of North Dakota beating Fargo (11-1) in the morning and Minot (4-2) in the afternoon. Then on Saturday, they took care of a metro flavor beating Lakeville North (5-1) and then district rival Minnetonka (2-0).

Heading into the final four Sunday morning they had a huge mountain to climb. First in the semifinals they beat Sioux City, IA 5-4 after tying the game with 11 seconds remaining and then winning it in overtime. After five games, the boys were tired, but found a way to beat Osseo Maple Grove in another tight game 3-2 to win it all.

With former NHLers on the coaching staff like Josh Harding and Tom Chorske - the boys got to tap in on some great experience to create an experience they will never forget. YHH has heard whispers around the rink that the real brilliance on their coaching staff is great hockey-mind Jordan Sendar.
