Detroit Compuware scored twice in the first period , then held off a talented Shattuck-St. Mary's team to earn the 16U USA Hockey National Championship in Pittsburgh in a thrilling 2-1 victory.

Compuware standout Arthur Kaliyev opened the scoring just 45 seconds into the game, while Thomas Middleton tacked on another goal before the five-minute mark to give the boys from the Motor City a 2-0 edge.

Drew Helleson notched a goal for the Sabres early in the second, but the play of Compuware goaltender Chase Johnson proved to be the difference down the stretch. Johnson made 18 saves in the win, with 10 of those stops coming in the final period.
