As always, the first day of tournament competition carries with it the weight of uncertainty, as teams have yet to play each in their respective pool and scores that can be deceiving.

The 2003 Invite Division of the Independent Classic will have its own share of confusion, as two of the four games played on Friday ended in ties, including a possible preview of a title game between the speedy '04 MN Blades and the towering Stars of Lake Superior.

The squads battled to a highly entertaining 2-2 draw, as the year-younger Blades showed no ill effects from the physical play of the much larger Stars.

The '05 Mustangs Green and Magicians also turned in a 2-2 tie in the division's nightcap at the Schwan Super Rink.

Entering the second day of games, the MN Icemen lead the 2003's at 2-0, with Velocity Black and the Madison Capitols tied for first in the 2004 Division with identical records of 1-0-1.

Heading up the 2005's is Velocity Black, and leading in the 2006 Division are the '07 MN Blades.

Noah Fekete (21) scores for the '04 Krivo School Elite in a 7-3 win over New Generation.

Aaron Pionk goes five-hole in the Lake Superior Stars' 2-2 tie with the '04 MN Blades.
