New Threads for a New Combine

The players suiting up for this year's NOW Prospects Minor Combine looked especially sharp on Wednesday.

It could have been the bright lights of Mariucci Arena or it could have been the reprieve from the summer heat, but it was most likely the intricate sweaters and socks that took the competition to new heights.

Practice was the first chance the players were able to test those uniforms on the ice, with the combinations of Grey/Gold and Maroon/White sharing their respective morning sessions filled with puck-movement drills and constant skating.

Between practice and game time, University of Minnesota Assistant Director of Athletic Performance Corey Petersen led a seminar for the players on overall training and nutrition, valuable knowledge for any athlete at any level.

Former Golden Gopher and Tampa Bay Lightning draft pick P.J. Atherton also presented, going over key points of power play execution.

Tyler Gibson, Maroon

Game 1: Grey 10, Gold 7

Two goals each from Ty Tuccitto and Harper Bentz paced Grey to a 10-7 win over Gold in the first of many competitions to come at the NOW Prospect Minor Combine.

Lucky Bischoff, Tommy Cronin, Brendan Connor, Kyle Henke, Kyle Ahlschlager and Tanner Ludtke all added one goal each for Grey.

Gold also had two players notch a pair of goals, as Zachary Nehring and Charlie Olsen marked the scoresheet twice.

Single goals were tallied by Caerter Krenke, Maxwell Roby and Sawyer Seidl.

Charlie Olsen scored twice Team Gold on Wednesday.

Game 2: White 9, Maroon 2

Caden Morgan racked up a hatty to lead White to a win over Maroon in the afternoon game, as White scored four goals in the first half and added five more goals in the second.

Eli Miller, Landon Steffen, Hunter Hady, Brady Ingebritson, Luke Steffen and Dawson McCann all added one goal apiece in the win for White.

Tyler Gibson and Luke Garry each scored once for Maroon.

Landon Steffen was all over the ice on Wednesday for Team White.

Players to Watch

Lucky Bischoff, Grey

Great skater who can create his own chances out of nowhere.

Maxwell Miller, White

Rocket-shot matches with rocket wheels for a dangerous combination.

Grant Kohnen, White

Quickness personified, Kohnen is a slippery forward with a deft touch.

Maxwell Roby, Gold

Uses his skates effectively to move the puck and plays well in space.

Luke Margenau, Maroon

A pesky player, Margeneau creates headache for defenders with quick feet and solid passing skills.

Keep an eye on Maroon's Luke Margenau this week.
