The Red and Black League is one of Minnesota's Best Skill Development Leagues.
The league is designed to prepare athletes for the season with high tempo, skill based games.
There is no doubt the players will improve their puck skills, play making abilities, and develop confidence heading into the season. Goalies will see plenty of quality shots from talented players.
Red Black has implemented modified checking rules for their Bantam, HS, and College leagues with no open ice hits and rub out hockey to minimize the risk of injury before the season and during the critical off season/off ice training periods. There will be no checking for the Red Black Squirt and Peewee league.
Red Black League History - The Red Black High School Prospect's League was started four years ago for High School players. Today we field 14+ teams in the Spring and 16+ teams in the fall; the high school league has fielded players from 58 different high schools.
Our league was formed with a strong emphasis on acquiring the necessary game skills to be the best High School hockey player possible and at the same time allowing for the development of players with post high school aspirations. Improved skills will include increased repetition in read and react situations, playing with speed, puck time skills (playmaking and goal scoring), ice vision, creativity and overall confidence. Secondly, the league was designed to greatly increase player safety so players will have the longevity to enjoy the sport of hockey for a lifetime.
