Over the past weekend, Youth Hockey Hub's Big Pumpkin showcased some of the top Peewee teams in the state in Moorhead, with the Hawks of Hermantown coming out on top in a thrilling championship win over Woodbury.
With the victory, the Hawks became the first team, not from Edina or Osseo-Maple Grove, to take the title. The Hornets and Leafbirds had alternated Pumpkin crowns for the first four years of the tournament.
The latest iteration of the Pumpkin featured several seminal moments, including Blaine's Austin Burnevik breaking the scoring record previously held by Minnesota Golden Gopher commits Chaz and Cruz Lucius. Burnevik totaled 15 goals and 22 points for the Bengals, topping Chaz's total of 12 goals and Cruz's total of 21 points.
After crowning a new champion and rewriting the record books, YHH is proud to present its 2017 Big Pumpkin All-Tournament Team, along with some new faces that impressed and the uniforms we liked best.
Jimmy Clark of Edina recorded seven goals and 11 points for Edina in the Pumpkin.
