Hornets, Skippers, Elks Skate to Victory

The 2017 Gobbler kicked off on Wednesday afternoon, with four Bantam B games highlighting the slate. 

Both Edina Green and Edina White earned victories in the first two games of the day, with Edina Green slipping past Lakeville North 3-2 and Edina White shutting out Rosemount 5-0. 

James Boss scored the game-winner for Edina Green in the win over Lakeville North, completing a come-from-behind effort with 7:21 to play in regulation. George Sandven tied the game for the Hornets, while Patrick McGarvey scored the first goal for Edina Green. Preston Fink and Kaleb Hurd each scored once for the Panthers. 

Four different players scored for Edina White in its win over Rosemount, with Jonny Schieffert, Quinn Peterson, Nate Gullickson, and Malcolm Johnson all marking the scoresheet. Colin Dorsey recorded two assists in the win for the Hornets. 

Minnetonka thumped Prior Lake 5-0 in the third game of the day, riding the three-assist performance of Ryder Ferguson to victory. The Skippers got four goals in the second period after a scoreless first, with Matthew Kelly, Cole Komisar, Trevor Kamps, and Teddy Manlove scoring in the second frame. Casey Miller tacked on a final goal at the 5:50 mark of the third period for Minnetonka.

Elk River scored late in the first period and again midway through the second to secure a 2-1 win over Woodbury in the nightcap, with Neal George and Andrew Foss notching goals for the Elks. Niklas Olafson scored the lone goal for the Predators in the loss.
