Defense Gobbles The Competition

While offense usually dominates the highlight reels and cements a spot on all-tournament teams, this year's Gobbler as marked by an outstanding goaltending performance by Minnetonka (Bantam B) netminder Quinn Goergen.

Goergen posted five shutouts in five games for the Skippers, as the anchor-adorned skaters took home the Gobbler title in convincing fashion with a 3-0 win over Edina White. For his efforts, Goergen was selected as the Bantam B Most Valuable Player.

Taking the MVP honor in the Peewee B division was Max Vonklinggraeff of Edina Green, who scored seven goals and tied for the tournament lead with eight total points. Vonklinggraeff was the pace-setter for an offense that outscored its opponents 21-4 over the course of four games, as the (Green) Hornets repeated as Gobbler champions.
