Gavin McNeill scores for Potter's Elves on Friday.
Playmakers and Hat Trick may have scored the first goal of the Squirt A championship game of the New Year's Challenge, but Potter's Elves quickly stole the momentum with five consecutive goals en route to a 22-10 win on Friday afternoon at The Pond in Rosemount.
Playmakers and Hat Trick would score again to make the score 5-2 after Potter's Elves' initial run and gave the impression that the game could settle into a seesaw affair.
However, the Elves responded with six more tallies to stretch their lead to 11-2 and essentially seal the fate of Playmakers and Hat Trick. Jacob Guille led the scoring charge with seven goals for the Elves, with Guille's performance followed by four-goal performances by Dylan Otten and Cullen Potter.
Sam Foley, Trey Newgard, and Luke Johnson all tallied two goals each for Playmakers and Hat Trick.
For his efforts, Potter was named the New Year's Challenge Most Valuable Player, racing up 22 goals in five goals to earn the honor. Christian Garrity of Holidangle Mitts finished second in overall scoring with 20 goals after his squad defeated the Charlestown Chiefs 20-14 in the SQA third-place game.
Owen Corkish scores for Playmakers and Hat Trick in Friday's loss to Potter's Elves.
