Orono takes Class A title, while Minnetonka claims first Class AA crown.

Minnetonka celebrates during Saturday's 5-2 win over Duluth East in the Class AA title game.

Class AA: Minnetonka 5, Duluth East 2

Minnetonka put the biggest of cherries on coach Sean Goldsworthy's first season with a 5-2 win over Duluth East in the Class AA finals on Saturday night.

After Duluth East took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Ricky Lyle, Wells Fargo All-Tournament Team member Bobby Brink and Matt Koethe staked the Skippers a 2-1 lead entering the second period. Josh Luedtke would stretch the Skipper lead to 3-1 early in the second period, with Duluth East's Austin Jouppi pulling the Hounds within one less than four minutes later.

The top-seeded Skippers would tack on two more goals in the third, with Joe Molenaar deflecting in a shot from the point and Koethe icing the game with an empty-netter.

In addition to Brink, Luedtke, Molenaar, Grant Docter, and Charlie Glockner were named to the All-Tournament team.

Duluth East's Garrett Worth, Ian Mageau, Luke LaMaster, and Parker Kleive were joined on the all-tournament team by Edina's Ben Brinkman and Sammy Walker, as well as St. Thomas Academy's Rob Christy.

Class A: Orono 2, Alexandria 1

A fortunate bounce off the end boards found the stick of Landon Wittenberg, who deposited the game-winning goal past Alexandria's Jackson Boline and handed Orono its first Class A state championship.

Thomas Walker spotted the No. 3 seed Spartans (23-7-1) a 1-0 lead midway through the first period, a lead that quickly dissipated as Alexandria's Jack Westlund knotted the game at 1-1 off a face-off win by Ben Doherty.

The game remained scoreless until Wittenberg's eventual game-winner at the 6:17 mark of the third period, spoiling a stellar goaltending performance by Boline, who would finish the game with 25 saves for the fourth-seeded Cardinals (19-11-1).
