Shock Doctor Shootout: Saturday Recap

Sunday's semifinals are set after a full two days of pool play.

2003-2004 Orange Division

2003

In the first semifinal of the 2003 Division, 3-0 Top Dog will face 1-1-1 ASHCO Storm on Blaine. Top Dog eased to its undefeated record with a 5-3 win over Mustangs Green, a 13-1 romping over the Raptors, and a 6-4 win over the Breakaway Bulldogs. ASHCO advances after a 4-1 win over Mustangs Blue, a 6-1 loss to Bauer Vapor Black, and a 2-2 tie with the Wisconsin Jr. Stars. 

The Jr. Stars will take on Mustangs Green in the other semifinal, with a pair of wins over Bauer Vapor Black 2-0 and Mustangs Blue 6-0. Rounding out the day for the Jr. Stars was the aforementioned 2-2 with ASHCO. Mustangs Green rebounded from an opening 5-3 loss to Top Dog with a 7-0 win over Breakaway and a 12 -0 win over the Raptors. 

Bauer Vapor Black and the Breakaway Bulldogs square off in the fifth-place game, while the seventh-place game will be comprised of Mustangs Blue and the Raptors.   

2004

With identical 3-0 records, Rapid Fire Group and the Madison Capitals will take part in the 2004 Orange Division's title game on Sunday afternoon. RFG has been unstoppable to this point, earning three 6-0 wins over the Gentry Astros, Marquette Selects, and the Med City X-Rays. Goaltender Zander Ziemski has turned in six shutout periods between the pipes for RFG. Madison advances to the championship after wins over Marquette (5-1), Med City (6-1), and a thrilling 1-0 triumph over Gentry. 

Gentry and Marquette will battle in the third-place game, having both gone 0-2-1, while Med City finishes the weekend with a record of 0-3.

2005-2006 Orange Divison

2005

Euro American Blue will take on the Minnesota Freeze in the first semifinal on Sunday, as EAB cruised to there straight wins in pool play. EAB defeated the Minnesota Mavericks 6-0, the Northern Wisconsin Blizzard 5-1, and the Wisconsin Jr. Stars 4-1. The Freeze sandwiched a 6-3 loss to Upper Midwest Superior between a 7-0 win over Bucks AAA and a 4-1 win over the Dakota North Stars.

UMW Superior and its 3-0 record, including wins over the Dakota North Stars, Minnesota Freeze, and Bucks AAA, will face the Wisconsin Jr. Stars in the second semifinal. The Jr. Stars scored a 3-1 win over in-state rival Northern WI Blizzard, tied the Minnesota Mavericks 1-1, and fell to Euro American Blue 4-1. 

Dakota and the Blizzard will play in the fifth-place game on Sunday, while the Mavericks and Bucks duel in the seventh-place game.   

2006

The first semifinal of the 2006 Orange Division will feature the Madison Capitals and the Bakken Oilers. The Capitals are the only team in the semifinal field without a loss, earning wins over the Wisconsin Jr. Stars (9-2) and Velocity Black (5-2). The Capitals also tied the Oilers 3-3 in pool play. In addition to the tie with the Capitals, the Bakken Oilers defeated Mustangs Green 7-3 and fell to the Northern Wisconsin Blizzard 2-0. 

Mustangs Green and Northern Wisconsin square off in the other semifinal, with the Mustangs picking up wins over Velocity Black 6-3 and the Wisconsin Jr. Stars 7-1. After those two victories was a 7-3 loss to the Bakken Oilers. The Blizzard advance out of pool play thanks to a 2-0 win over Bakken and a 3-2 win over the Jr. Stars. Velocity Black topped the Blizzard 7-3. 

Velocity Black and the Wisconsin Jr. Stars battle for fifth place on Sunday. 


Zander Ziemski has been statistically perfect through two games for Rapid Fire.
